My practice is inspired by the act of living and by the passage of time as a carrier of meaning and culture. I work under the name ALMAPOLAS, inspired by the connection between the human soul and the brief lifespan of poppies. They bloom for only a day, yet their stems return again and again. This cycle of fragility and continuity has shaped my relationship with time and my understanding of how impermanence can give deeper meaning to what remains. I believe art is a mirror: it shows the viewer what they need to see, becoming alive through their presence. For this reason, I do not use my personal name as the creator.
I work with clay as a material that holds memory, touch, and presence. Through simple forms and traditional references rooted in my Valencian culture, my practice becomes a way of preserving cultural knowledge while allowing it to evolve. In a world increasingly mediated by technology—where reality is often experienced through screens rather than through the body—I feel a strong need to reconnect with what is tangible and imperfect, with oral traditions, hand-made knowledge, and the rawness of being human.
My work invites a slower, more grounded way of looking, shaped by material presence and physical time. Through my pieces, I reflect our shared fragility and resilience and our place within a larger living system.
